Our Founder

JAKE'S Crane & Rigging was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada and established in 1946 by Mr. Jake Dieleman (2/21/1904 - 11/4/2002). He was born in Axel, The Netherlands. He became involved with the operation of cranes early on and learning them was his passion. As a young man in The Netherlands, his dream of life in America was blocked by strict quota limits on immigration to the U.S. when he left Holland in 1921. He therefore emigrated to Canada for the opportunity to enroll in agricultural school which he qualified for admission. In Canada, Jake used his agricultural education to gain entry into the United States. He immediately secured a job in a Vermont granite quarry as a rigger/ operator where he worked for 5 years, gaining residency as a U.S. citizen in 1929.

Jake's skills grew as he worked on numerous significant projects such as the Boston tunnel. In the 1930's, Mr. Dieleman came to the American Southwest to help build multi-purpose dams for the United States Government. In Boulder City, Nevada Jake served as one of the original '31ers on the Hoover Damn project where he began working as a high scaler and later as a cableway, crane and derrick operator. It was there he met and married Ruth Oppedyk in 1936 and settled in Nevada. He eventually formed his own company in Las Vegas. Since then, Mr. Dieleman and his company, JAKE'S Crane & Rigging, have served the needs for the construction industry primarily in the American Southwest. In essence, JAKE'S Crane has helped pave the way to the development of the entertainment capital of the world.
